Note about the FAFSA (Free
Application for Federal Student Aid) Students should file the FAFSA by the state filing deadline.* The FAFSA is used by many colleges, universities, and financial aid providers in the awarding of all types of financial aid, including student loans. Even students who don't require financial assistance are advised to file the FAFSA each year, as having the FAFSA on file may protect students in the event of a significant change in their or their familiy's financial circumstances. To file the FAFSA online, go to www.fafsa.ed.gov. *Important
note: the Indiana state deadline for 2010 for receipt of the FAFSA is March 10th, 2010, which
is much earlier than the federal deadline. After the state deadline, a student
may still file a FAFSA, but the student won't be considered for state student
assistance for the academic year. The FAFSA must be re-filed each year.
Students should file the FAFSA as early in 2010 as their families have tax and
financial information needed for the form. Even if such information is not
available before the FAFSA deadline, students should file anyway before the
deadline (and supply missing information later). |
